Description of performance:
In Belmopan for ONE NIGHT ONLY!
August 26th at the Belmopan Civic Centre
Riots! Strikes! Marriage proposals! The peasants of Breadfruit Kingdom, taxed to the brink of starvation by their King to pay for his family’s lavish lifestyle and his daughter’s hearty appetite, have had enough. Chaos follows as the Masked Wonder leads the people to rebellion. The King struggles to control his unruly subjects while searching for a suitor who can afford to feed the eternally hungry princess. And romance blossoms in unexpected quarters. Breadfruit Kingdom is a story of love, longing, rebellion and a little flatulence.
The Rotary Theatre Company brings you, for the fourth year, a play guaranteed to provoke side-splitting laughter from all audiences. Carlo Mason returns to the stage as the tyrannical yet bumbling King Street, and Sandra McKay is his Queen. Stephen Lecky’s Hunchy has a day job as the King’s personal servant while his Masked Wonder is busy stirring up revolution. Breadfruit Kingdom lives up to all expectations, with comedic acting, high energy and lots of music and fun.
Breadfruit Kingdom premieres at the Bliss on 9th August for a limited number of shows. As always, proceeds from the play will go to Rotary’s Gift of Life program to provide heart surgery for children.
The Rotary Theatre Company, helping to provide “the gift of life through the gift of laughter.”
