Rotary's Four-Way Test
Rotarians have always been concerned with promoting high ethical standards in their professional and personal lives. One of the world's most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is Rotary’s The Four-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor. This 24-word test was adopted by Rotary in 1943 and has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published in thousands of ways. It asks the following four questions:

Of the things we think, say or do:

1. Is it the TRUTH?

2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

As Rotarians we are meant to use these questions to help guide our thoughts and actions.

The Four-Way-Test is not a standard we like to keep to ourselves but try to share with other people and organizations as well. In the past we have worked with schools to give presentations about the Four-Way-Test and how people can use it to guide their lives. Please contact us for more information.
